According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Mbatha, the 16-year-old boy died at Masakhane Clinic after being stabbed to death by his 14-year-old girlfriend.
Mbatha said the girl uses an Okapi knife to kill the boy.
The boy lived at 25-7th avenues, Alexandra and was a grade 9 learner at Alex High School.
The deceased learner was stabbed by a grade 7 learner from Pholosho Secondary School, also in Alexandra.
The incident occurred in the township at around 19h00 in the evening on the 9th September.
Gauteng EducatioMEC, MrMr Panyaza Lesufi conveyed his condolences to the family of a Grade 9 boy learner from Alexandra High School in Alexandra.
“According to information at our disposal, the deceased learner succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
“The matter has since been handed over to the police for further investigation in the circumstanceses surrounding this horrific incident,” Lesufi said.
Lesufi said their Psycho-Social Unit has been dispatched to Alexandra High School to provide necessary support and counselling to all those who are affected by this fatal incident.
“This process will also continue on Monday, 13 September 2021.
“What transpired is truly saddening and we would like to share our deepest condolences to the family and school community for this loss.
“We also denounce, in the strongest terms, all violent acts by our learners. The SGB must investigate and take necessary steps in dealing with such matters,” said Lesufi.
