208 ILLEGAL FOREIGNERS, MOSTLY FROM ZIM AND MOZ ARRESTED

A joint operation executed by the South African Police Service in Limpopo province led to the arrest of two hundred and eight (208) undocumented immigrants and recovery of suspected stolen properties at Marble Hall and Groblersdall policing area under Sekhukhune District.

Police said the main objective of the operation that commenced in the evening on Thursday 19 July 2024 at Leeuwfontein and surrounding farms until the next day on Friday 19 July 2024 at about 11:00 was to rid the area of illegal activities in the area .

A total number of *One hundred and seventy six (176) Zimbabwe, twenty eight (28) Mozambique and four (04) Indian Nationals* were taken under police custody for Contravention of Immigration Act.

During the arrests, police seized a white Toyota Hilux bakkie loaded with oranges suspected to be stolen being in possession by two foreign male nationals.

One male suspect was apprehended for possession of a suspected stolen Plasma Smart Television Set (TV) found inside one of the rooms at the local farms.

“The Zimbabwean and Mozambican nationals comprising of adult and minor children were immediately deported to their respective policing borders following their arrests.

“The other four who are of Indian origin are still in police custody and further police investigations are ongoing for deportation to their home country,” said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has vowed that the outstanding work displayed by the men and women in blue in combating illegal activities as well as contravention of immigration across the province will continuously be maintained in the province.
