The Maake Regional Court has handed down a hefty sentence to Hansa Answer Mankubidu, a 23-year-old convicted rapist.
Mankubidu was found guilty of brutally attacking and raping a 62-year-old woman in Khopo village on August 2, 2019. The victim was walking home alone when Mankubidu violently grabbed her, forced her to the ground and ultimately raped her.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of Detective Sergeant Bongani Mthombeni from the Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, Mankubidu was traced, arrested, and denied bail. On October 30, 2024, he faced justice and received a well-deserved 15-year sentence.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the Investigating Officer for exceptional work of protecting vulnerable members of society and ensuring that perpetrators are removed from society for a long time.
