Following the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) rally that took place in Alex last week, we had a chat with Cedric Chauke, MK Party Greater Alexandra Zonal Convenor, to understand why many people left their parties to join MK, what have they seen?
Many members who were in ANC, including Chauke himself, made this two-month-old party their home.
Chauke asserted that the MK is dedicated to serving the interests of black people and uniting them as one nation.
“As a two-months old, we cannot sit by ourselves and suggest what people need, we’re still consulting so we can have a people’s driven pillars.
“The MK is a people’s choice. The growth in two months is a proof to start. MK Party has revived the spirit of voting in South Africa. IEC Registration turnout attests to that. People who never had interest in politics are joining and participating in the MK Party in numbers. This is the only party focusing on restoring Black Nation’s dignity,” he said.
Chauke said the Rally was an Election’s campaign at which the Commander in Chief of MK Party Commander Jacob Zuma addressed attendees.
“The turn out was more than what we anticipated. We had targeted at least 5000 attendees, but the turn out was close to full capacity of 12 000. We are happy about the attendance, and the growth of MK Party in the Greater Alexandra precinct.
“The MK Party has not launched Branches, the phrasing will be incorrect. However we have 11 Wards in Greater Alexandra Precinct, all Wards attended the Rally in numbers (Ward 32, 72, 75, 76, 81, 91, 105, 107, 108, 109 and 116).
“We had about 40 taxis hired for neighboring Zones (Midrand, Inner City, Soweto and Tembisa); with a total number of 600 passengers combined.
“The Rally was a success, more than what we anticipated. Turn out was double of number expected, we thank residents of Alexandra for showing confidence and support for MK Party,” he said.
He said the MK was continuing with recruitment of members, establishment of interim ward’s structures, local based engagements with residents and voters.
He said it was impossible for people to forget about MK Party, as they were receiving calls from all corners of Johannesburg by residents wanting forms, and to know activities party. “The presence of MK Party is in the plight of South Africans.”
Chauke mentioned that there was miscommunication on taxis arrangement. He indicated that there is no culprit or anyone to be dealt with.
“Taxis were organized through SANTACO including payment. They were membership and Supporters of MK Party from Zones that were not allocated transport. However, for the love of MK Party and President Zuma, they organized taxis at their local taxi rank.
“We delayed to arrange payment for those taxis as it was an unplanned and unexpected one. However all members were taken back home safely though there was a delay.
“We have noted a voice note making rounds in community groups alleging a Regional Treasurer received R6m. MK Party has no Regional Treasurer as we have not launched structures and elected Office Bearers.
“The mentioned in the voice note Commander Bazooka, is MK Party Joburg Region Convenor, and as the hosting Zone, we can attest that Commander Bazooka received no money as MK Party National Office dealt with all stakeholders payments.
“We are investigating purpose of this voice note and its origin because it is clearly coming from someone who is not MK Party member, hence the lies about a none existence Regional Treasurer.”
Chauke’s message to residents of Alexandra and South Africans in general, is that they must vote for MK Party” in order to restore their dignity as owners of South African Land”.
“MK Party is the only party challenging the change to Constitution to serve the interest of the majority who are Black Africans, without changing some of the contents of the South African constitution blocks development, access to land and economy as those oppose to transformation of black people like the DA will always run to court to prevent implementation of policies that favor poor black South African.
“We must give MK Party 2/3rd majority in order to restore our dignity as black people, united.”
