Kurisani Mtileni’s unfortunate story of being mistaken for an illegal foreign national by the police has added to the woes of the teenager, who has already experienced the worst!

In 2021, he was waiting for taxis to Alex in Noord when three men ambushed him in front of many people. Without saying anything to him, the thugs loaded him into a Toyota Tazz.

Some people who had waited next to him, tried to pelt the car with objects, but failed to halt it.

When the Tazz was about to speed off, Kurisani (19)  jumped and fell on the busy road. He was saved by the police vehicle.

During his interview with Alex Reporter at his home at 15th Selbourne, Alexandra, Kurisani said the Tazz had three kidnapped girls and unfortunately they were not rescued.

When he allegedly reported the matter to the police, they declined to chase after the Tazz, saying they wanted to safe him only.

The grade 12 learner at a private school near Ghandi Square in Joberg questioned himself why bad things were always happening to him. But he thanks God that he was still alive.

The recent attack allegedly by the police has left Kurisani and his family shocked.

The police mistook him for a foreign national because of his skin color . They asked for his identity document, and when he failed to produce it as it was left at his Alex home, they allegedly accused him of being in South Africa illegally.

As that was not over, the officials manhandled him and hit him in the head. After they were done, the traumatised teenager ran to the EFF’s office and reported the matter.

His mother said she was worried because where her son was hit, is in the head. She said when Kurisani was an infant, doctors operated him and inserted a tube in his head.

She said due to his condition, he is not supposed to be hit in the head, as that will affect his brain badly.

After they tried in several occasions to open a case against the police, the family eventually opened it at Johannesburg Central Police staion on the 1st of May.
