The 46-year-old suspect, Justice Mampuru arrested in connection with the murder of his 49-year-old male relative in Apel appeared before Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 26 June following his arrest on Tuesday.
He was remanded in custody until Monday, 01 July 2024 for formal bail application and further police investigation.
The arrest follows an incident that took place on 20 June in Mohlaletse village. According to preliminary reports, the suspect confronted the victim at his residence, accusing him of stealing personal belongings.
An argument ensued, escalating into a physical altercation. It is alleged that during the confrontation, the suspect fatally injured the victim.
“The suspect handed himself to the police on Tuesday, 25 June following thorough police investigation.
“The deceased has been identified as Jeremy Phasha(49),” said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
Police investigations are still continuing.
