Escaping from prison was a waste of time because the community reported him to the police. He is now dancing kwasakwasa in the cells

The 33-year-old awaiting trial prisoner, Pfundzo Eddie Ramafamba who escaped from lawful custody in Thohoyandou on Tuesday morning, 09 July 2024 has been re-arrested.

The arrest of the accused stems from the alertness from the community and their willingness to assist the police.

Ramafamba who was arrested for assault GBH and intimidation was recaptured by police this morning, 10 July at Mokonde village in Thohoyandou during an operation activated soon after receiving valuable information from the community.

The accused escaped from custody while he was scheduled to appear at Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court.

“The circumstances surrounding the escape are still under police investigations.

“The suspect will face additional charge of escaping from lawful custody,” Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

Provincial Commissioner , Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has thanked the community for heeding the police’s call for assistance and providing valuable information.
