An unknown man was heavily beaten and killed by university students after they allegedly accused him of stealing from them

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has vehemently condemned the brutal killing of an unknown man at Mamotintane village,Ga-Mamabolo on Monday night, 22nd July 2024.

According to information, the police received a report of a mob attack near the University of Limpopo campus. Upon arrival at the scene, they found a group of people surrounding an unknown man who was lying on the ground with severe head injuries.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the victim was found stealing property at the students residence and beaten to death with unknown objects.

A comprehensive investigation has been launched and a manhunt for the suspects is underway.

“I have directed the police to pursue those responsible for this senseless act of violence,” said the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

“Regardless of the circumstances, attacking fellow citizens is a criminal offence and will be met with the full force of the law,” said Radebe.

“Police investigations are continuing,” said Ledwaba.
