The South African Police Service in Maake under Mopani District have nabbed a 26 year-old male suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a 35 year-old male victim believed to be his brother on Sunday 28 July 2024.
It is reported that at about 20:30, police received a complaint of a murder at Thabina village and rushed to the vicinity. Upon arrival found a male victim lying on the ground with severe head injuries outside the house.
The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene but the victim was declared dead on their arrival.
It is alleged that the deceased arrived home intoxicated and found his brother asleep and woke him up. An argument ensued between the duo and the suspect took out a sharp object and hit his brother on the forehead.
“The deceased fell down and the suspect dragged him from the house and put him on the ground. Afterwards, a 26 year-old suspect walked to his nearby relatives and informed them about the incident that was immediately reported to the police.
“The suspect was arrested on the scene for the fatal stabbing of his brother and the sharp object used to commit the crime was also seized.
“He is expected to appear before Naphuno Magistrate court soon facing a charge of murder.
“Police investigations are continuing,” said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
