Many residents were left homeless when their shacks burned down at 18th London, next to Iphutheng Primary school in Alex.
It is alleged that a man left a stove on and fell asleep.
The fire started in his shack, but he managed to escape. The fire had already gotten stronger when it was noticed.
The residents tried to put out the fire with no luck. The Amapanyazas saw the fire when they passed by and quickly contacted the fire fighters. The destruction of many shacks had already occurred by the time firefighters arrived. Nonetheless, there were no injuries.
This was the second horrific fire that occurred in a very short space of time. The first fire that left scores of shacks destroyed occurred last week.
