Foreign nationals allegedly fought back with stones and sticks against the members of the Fiyela Movement. They had to run to the police station as they were allegedly outnumbered by angry foreigners who felt abused!

Although the war didn’t begin this year, the latest clash took place yesterday at 17th Selborne a few days ago. However, many stalls belonging to foreign nationals were destroyed yesterday, and the war has escalated to today.
Who is the Fiyela Movement?
Fiyela was an initiative of Dudula Movement and “NOT Operation Dudula. It was launched on the 13th of February 2022 by the community including some law enforcement agencies and stakeholders of Alex”.
” The purpose of Fiyela was to reclaim Township Economy in the informal sector, as Covid had affected many people (job losses).
“This was to give Alexandrians an opportunity to run their own businesses. The operation went smooth and peaceful for 2 months until “US” South Africans saw an opportunity of making money through these foreign nationals using the term “Protection Fee” that’s how it collapsed and only rising now again,” said a former leader of Fiyela.
