“You remember, I came here (2019) and promised you the houses would be built. Even that program, we are serious about it that houses will be built in Alexandra.
“And we have already worked out the program that outlines where the houses would be built,” President Cyril Ramaphosa said during his visit in Alex, adding that land was already identified around.
Ramaphosa assured residents that the ANC did not promise houses because they were seeking votes. ” Our manifesto says we want to build a better community.
Ramaphosa massively spoke fondly of the leadership skills shown by the newly elected Mayor of Johannesburg, Mpho Moerane.
Jovial Ramaphosa, before asking people to vote for the ruling party on 1 November, called Moerane to the podium.
“You can see he is young and handsome,” Ramaphosa said followed by ululations of the supporters.
Ramaphosa said during Moerane’s recent tour at Orange Farm, he questioned residents about their challenges, compiled the challenges and wrote a book about it.
“He wrote 15 pages about what people need in Orange Farm. I have never seen something like this before. It is for the first time I see this.
“When he was done, he wrote what he would do; he calculated the cost and where the budget would come from. Is it not that intelligence?
“He told me that he also wrote about Soweto challenges. And he said even the book about Alexandra will be completed. He would write about the things that would be corrected here in Alexandra.
“I tell you this because your mayor and his mayoral committee showed me that they really want to serve the interest of people of Alex. ”
Ramaphosa encouraged residents to vaccinate and also refuted claims that people would die if vaccinated.
” There are people who are walking amongst you, some are pastors and say don’t vaccinate because God won’t love you anymore. No such thing. Others say you will die.
“I vaccinated and I’m still alive healthily. They say if you are a woman, you won’t give birth. No such thing.
“If you vaccinate being a man, they say there won’t be peace in the bedroom, no such thing. Vaccination is not new. When you were young, you vaccinated.”
