When the then EFF ward 109 councillor candidate, Patricia Mofokeng, gave three wheelchairs to Alexandra young people with disabilities on October 16,2021, some residents mistook her humanity for her election campaign.
The red beret cadre who lost the infamous ward to the DA’s Lori Coogan, has vowed to continue giving to the needy regardless of her lost.
Coogan took back the ward from Liaquad Ebrahim of the ANC, who became the councillor when Werner Smit resigned in 2019.
Mofokeng showed that she was not only visible to her people during election campaigns when she donated two wheelchairs to Koketso Mogale (12) and Refilwe Makau (32) in ward 105, Alexandra.
” I feel fulfilled that I’m delivering on the mandate of the organisation which is to ensure that we restore the dignity of a black child.
“There is a Non Profit Organization that shares the same vision with us. We approach them when there’s a need to request assistance on behalf of our people.
“We are the vanguard of the community. Our people know us and we know their doors,” said Mofokeng.
Mofokeng told Mashamba Media that she was approached by community members who told her about the critical situation of the pair and the poor conditions of their wheelchairs.
“We saw a need to assist in advancing their mobility and confidence,” says the radical fighter.
When asked if she was working hand in hand with the relatively unknown new- elected councillor, Mofokeng replied:
“The ward councillor is nowhere to be found. Our people don’t even know who is their ward councillor. She doesn’t care about our people. She has never set foot in the Setjwetla.
“All those who require assistance should contact the EFF because we are the only organisation that has proven reliability and consistency for our people.
“The people of Alexandra must vote out the ANC and DA out of power come 2024 and 2026 and vote in the EFF,” she said, adding that she was not going to rest until the disabled people were prioritized.
Originally from Limpopo Bolobedu in the village of Jamela, Patricia has a good relationship with the locals and she knows almost all their needs and problems.
“I fell in love with EFF because it’s the only organization that I think can make a difference in the lives of black people.
The ANC failed people for 27 years.”
In 2013, fighter Patricia was a community activist with compassion for helping people, especially those who cannot help themselves.
