JOHNSON MLAMBO PASSES AWAY OF COVID-19 RELATED ILLNESS
The PAC of Azania sadly announces that Comrade Johnson Phillip Mlambo (80) passed away after being admitted to hospital late last night on Friday 8 January 2021. He tested positive for COVID-19 and unfortunately passed away on Saturday morning.
His family is going through tests themselves and would like that would-be visitors to their home in Daveyton respect and observe regulations and restrictions of coronavirus protocols.
Cde Mlambo was secretary of the PAC’s Daveyton branch in 1960. After the banning, he became active in the Poqo Insurrection activities and took a leading role in the Year of Destiny in 1963.
He was arrested and convicted with others. He was sentenced to twenty years on Robben Island maximum security prison.
On his release in 1983 the underground leadership deployed him to join the Mission in Exile.
He was a member of the Central Committee, as Secretary for Foreign Affairs. In 1985 after the sudden death of Comrade Nyathi Pokela, he assumed the seat of chair in the Central Committee.
He was the first deputy president in 1990 when the PAC consolidated its leadership structures.
Comrade Mlambo has served the African people diligently, selflessly and with wholehearted devotion.
At this stage, the family is making arrangements for his funeral and announcements will be made in due course.
