Alex Reporter Reader rescues distressed grade 12 girl

Thato Mashele, 17, a resident at Marulaneng village, near Jane Furse in Limpopo, breathes a sigh of relief and is overcome by joy and happiness.

Her happiness comes after she received a smart phone donation from a Good Samaritan woman who saw her touching story on Alex Reporter.

A woman with a big heart, Katlego Maroga from Praktiseer, in Limpopo, told the Alex Reporter that she likes to help people.

Maroga said she wasn’t happy to see people suffer, particularly if she could help.

“I want her to do the school work and excel in her education. I eagerly purchased the phone for her,” Maroga said.

“Those who want to help people in need must always be aware that life is full of challenges.”

Maroga’s donation follows the published story of the Grade 12 learner at Mpilo Secondary School, who asked readers for a smartphone.

The poor smart girl is determined to study chartered accounting next year.

She was using her friend’s phone to carry out her school research.

She lives with her 55-year-old unemployed mother, Selina, who takes care of her family by selling fruits.
