The suspected remains of Zama Maphisa (35) were reportedly found in Mpumalanga.

She is believed to have been killed by her boyfriend, Lefadi Chego, who is believed to be married to another woman.

Lefadi Chego (47) was arrested after a suicide attempt and reportedly told the police about his girlfriend’s remains.

Zama’s story made headlines after she disappeared on 29 September 2021 when her boyfriend took her to a trip to Mpumalanga. The plan, as reported, was to repair their broken relationship.

In his recent court appearance, Lefadi reportedly only told the police that he had hidden her remains.

He allegedly swallowed poison when he learned that the police were looking for him.

He will appear in court on November 18.

This story was posted on Alexandra Crime Alert WhatsApp group:

“We cannot confirm this. Can we please wait for the tests to be done? This is truly traumatic for the family, please,” said one person who is believed to be Zama’s relative.

Alex police spokesman, Sergeant Mbatha’s phone rang with no answer when Alex Reporter contacted him for comments.
