“This is where we experience freedom. Basketball as part of our lives, we do prioritise and commit to it. We aim to be great and excel in everything that we do,” said Ali Senoamadi the founder of Alexandra Basket Club.

Senoamadi said the unity amongst members has created long-term relationships and partnerships.

“We are different but we play with one accord, love and do it with passion. We learn every time we are in the court and we evolve.

“Our players can attest that they have found friendships and families.”

The club has existed for more than 10 years but was officially registered as a non-profit organisation in 2019 and has since been participating in a local, provincial and schools leagues.

Senoamadi says they are currently working on strengthening the teams on the courts and in public.

The club has the roots in Alexandra, Katlehong , Rustenburg, Polokwane; it’s comprised of girls and boys (junior team) and both male and female( senior team) that are passionate about what they do.

“We aim to enhance the games to the best of our abilities,” said Senoamadi.

He said the club assists teen players with university applications and bursaries.

“There are couple of players who the organisation has assisted in getting university sponsorships.”

This year they were given an opportunity to participate in a tournament in Swaziland, but it was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
