Life Changing & Inspirational (LCI NGO) recently hosted an event at Thusong Youth Centre that changed Alex youth completely!
According to founder and director of the NGO, Lebogang Serubarube, the mission of the event different, was to equip the youth with information and details about different careers available in the country that the youth can choose from after their high school learning.
“We believe an investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” Serubarube said.
The career exhibition was held for Grade 10 and 12 learners.
SETA was invited to organise the exhibition and several speakers to encourage and motivate learners.
The following SETAS attended: BankSeta, Ceta and Fasset.
Mrs Universe Africa Finalist 2022 Mpho Mogotsi encouraged the youth to have dreams and to remember that their dreams are valid and should be their motivation.
Mogotsi spoke about how she was raised in a similar environment as some of Alex’s young people.
However, she decided to be different and pursued her dreams and remembered who she has always wanted to be, including winning the title of Mrs Universe Africa 2022.
Another speaker, Yulenda Moime, a former model and physicist by trade, encouraged young people to study and explore different fields.
Moime said she was thankful that SETA was part of the exhibit as she benefited from it. She was sponsored by HWSETA for an internship.
Serubarube encourages other NGOs and companies to explore other avenues by providing young people with the means to change their lives.
“Some of the supporters that we would like to appreciate are De La Salle Holy Cross College, which donated sun hats and story books which we handed over to Ikusasa Lethu Day Care.
“Other supporters of this initiative are Haute by Fifi which is an online store, Riverpark Café which is a restaurant in Alexandra, SAYOUTH – the national network for all young people to access learning and earning opportunities – for free supported by Harambee.”
