Thabo Mahlare aka ‘DJ behind Bars’ is over the moon that his amaPiano TLB song has received massive airplay unexpectedly.
The DJ behind Bars told Alex Reporter he was grateful that his song was also received by many people.
“It’s playing all over now.”
The loved DJ whose name is not new in the music industry, has crafted the song after he saw the video of an infamous Mpumalanga man demolishing his girlfriend’s double storey house he had built for her.
“Through the song I wanted to encourage more men to never stop supporting their partners and build houses for them,”he said.
The TLB song-star says he wished to see more than 500 men posting double storey houses that they built for their girlfriends.
The Mamelodi East muso started singing when he was a lad of six, but became professional in 2012 after he launched his own clothing brand called ‘Behind bars clothing’.
He says he came up with the concept ‘Behind Bars’ after he noticed many black people were suffering and lagged behind on many things.
He argues that many black people had no spirit of assisting one other to succeed in life.
Asked how his music career started, he says, when growing up he was inspired by people like Mzwakhe Mbuli.
“I ended up making a song about him which is called ‘Celebrate Mzwakhe Mbuli’.”
The DJ behind Bars has worked alone in many songs, except for the beats where he worked with DJ Rekere.
“Sometimes I go to different music producers for beats. I have songs that I did with Mapara A Jazz, GPG wa Pitori, and the music video that I did with team Mosha.”
His advice to the up-and-coming musos is: “Please don’t smoke drugs, be focused and work hard.”
He can be reached on 082 620 6982 / 076 255 4997.
