Amos faces 76 charges after people invested money in his company, lying they will get profit

Mbhasoshi Amos Zulu (41) appeared before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, facing seventy six (76) charges including contempt of court, fraud, theft,  falsifying, uttering and money laundering.

The case was postponed to 20 June 2024 and Zulu was remanded in custody.

It is alleged that between 4 September 2020 and 5 January 2021, the accused, a Director of Mbhasi Trading (PTY)LTD, lured unsuspecting public to invest money in his company in return, to share profit.

The victims deposited the money which they did not benefit from the profit sharing investment scheme. Instead, they lost their money.

The accused was arrested in Barberton on 18 June 2024 for contempt of court charges, after he and his attorney failed to appear in court for consultation on 4 June 2024.

“A warrant of arrest was authorized and executed by the Secunda based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation.

“The accused was charged and detained, pending his court appearance on Wednesday , 19 June 2024. Investigation is continuing,” said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.
