Twenty-five-year-old man was electrocuted at 16th Avenue, Alexandra, this afternoon.
It is alleged that the deceased touched a steel staircase on a neighbor’s two-storey building.
According to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the man was electrocuted and taken to a hospital by paramedics where he died.
Mangena said the technicians tested the scene and found the stairs and steel around the house, including the roof were live at 220v.
“Unfortunately the owner of the double-storied house was not there to enable us to get in and assess the connections.
“We suspect the house is bridged inside with no earth wires. We have cut supply to the house.,” said Mangena.
Mangena said residents in the yard said the kids complained about the shocks over the weekend, but adults didn’t take them seriously.
The victim’s heavily pregnant wife had been unaware of the death of her partner by the time we published the story.
