The terrible discovery of the body of a 5-year-old boy in the bucket left the villagers confused and frightened.
The incident took place in Lulekani Township near Phalaborwa on Sunday.
Alex Reporter’s sister publication, Giyani View, reported that one source alleged that the suspect arrested in this case, Lizzy Malatji (34) had plans to perform rituals.
The source claimed that Malatji got a prophecy from her so-called man of god that she would have to eat a baby’s liver if she wanted to conceive.
Lizzy is said to have killed the boy after his dad went to work and left him with his brother (the uncle of the deceased).
The deceased’s uncle reportedly went to pick Mopani worms from Lulekani’s neighboring bushes and left the boy with his wife.
When he came back, he was surprised to see his wife with bloodstains on her clothes.
The police in Limpopo said that the wife refused her husband access to the house until a proportional force was used to enter.
“After forced entry into the house, he found the boy’s lifeless body inside the bucket with severe stab wounds.
“Police and an ambulance were immediately called and the deceased was reported dead at the scene.
“A murder case was opened and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
“The suspect, Lizzy Malatji, appeared in Lulekani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 23 March 2021 and the case was remitted until 30 March 2021,” added Brigadier Majapelo.
