Almost everybody who has become successful in any field will acknowledge that experience gained from anything small can add value to something bigger.
Kgalalelo Ian Malange (27) started small, just like some of his friends.
He was employed as a news reporter and bulletins producer at Alex FM for a year.
“I fell in love with news at the station, and some of the stories I covered were the Alex Total Shutdown and horrific fire that destroyed many homes in Stjwetla.
“I will always thank Alex FM for providing me with the opportunity. Big up to Takalani ( Station Manager),” he said
Ian fell in love with the media industry from a very early age, specifically news. He said to AR that he always wanted to become a journalist.
“But I can tell you that people can develop the love for media at any point in their lives, whether it be through a specific film, TV show, book, or other form of media that they connect with. Cliff Shiko (who is a well-versed journalist) has been a source of inspiration for me.”
Ian, who is originally from the rural area of Makapanstad in Hammanskraaal, has been active in the media fraternity since his first year at varsity in 2015.
Ian, the only child to his parents, was raised by his strict grandmother. He is currently a researcher and content producer at Moja Love Channel 157, the arguably most watched channel in the country.
He describes himself as plain and simple. He has obtained his diploma in journalism, TV and production.
“I studied IT as well. I’m taking a break from my law studies,” says the man who is a fan of books.
In the very short space of time, he has done the following TV shows: Rea Tsotella, Umshaya (kasi swindler), Hallelujah (nominated for Crown Awards) Coming Out & Enough is Enough, Ukungenwa, Ezocansi, Giants of the city, Sunday Spirit, just to name but a few.
“I also worked for 1873 FM, an online radio based in Rivonia as a news reader,” he said.
His message to the young people is, “Believe in yourself and never get tired.”
