The bodies of Kamogelo Raphasha (7) and her younger sister Tshegofatso Raphasha (5) were discovered by a passerby in the bushes near Ga-Mashalane village, on Tuesday night.
Limpopo police have confirmed the discovery of the bodies of two children who went missing in Marobjane village in Senwabarwana in August.
They were reportedly last seen with their aunt before they went missing.
Spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo said they have opened an inquest docket.
“The post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Police investigations are continuing. We also urge community members in the area to remain calm and give the investigations space to unfold unhindered.”
Meanwhile, the MEC for Social Development in the province Nkakareng Rakgoale has sent condolences to the Raphasha family.
“We remain concerned about incidents of this nature that are being reported in some parts of the province.
“Our social workers who have been with the family will continue to provide psychosocial support to the family. We urge all members of the public to assist government in always ensuring the safety of children.”
