“It’s tough to be foreign in Alex,” said a woman following the brutal death of her brother.
“God will answer. You won’t bribe him. Tonight they will be celebrating and we are mourning,” she sobbed.
Bothwell (31), who came to South Africa in 2007 from Zimbabwe, was allegedly shot twice by the angry community before they burnt him alive.
According to his brother, Siyabonga Ndlovu (33), the furious members of Sejtwetla dragged him from his shack in Rasta village, ext. 8.
He allegedly tried to run away when he was shot twice in the back.
“He fell down here. He was struck on the chest with a huge stone. He unleashed blood from the mouth . That’s when they set him alight,” said the distressed brother who was coming from work.
When Alex Reporter team arribed, he was still burning but already dead next to Juskei River, between Rasta Village and Setjwetla.
According to the family, Bothwell was suspected of having stolen something and was found through a picture in a phone.
He’s the sixth man to be burned alive by angry community of Setjwetla.
One community member said, “We are tired of crime. These criminals are killing us. Here, if you commit crime, we will deal with you.”
