The Scheweizer-Reneke Magistrates’ Court postponed a murder case against Onkarabetse Monare (22) to 03 December 2021 for formal bail application.

The investigating officer has completed the verification of her alternative address in preparation of her bail hearing. She has also sourced the services of a legal aid attorney to represent her in the matter.

Police reports revealed that Monare was apprehended on Saturday, 20 November 2021, after she allegedly stabbed and killed Onneleng Mothupi (42) who is said to be her cousin.

According to Henry Mamothame
NPA Spokesperson, the reports also revealed that Mothupi was allegedly visiting his mother’s residential place and found Monare eating.

“An argument allegedly ensued and Monare took out a knife and threatened to stab Mothupi but his girlfriend managed to intervene and grabbed the knife from her,” said Mamothame.

It was reported that subsequent to the attempt by Monare to stab the deceased, Mothupi’s girlfriend left the two alone in the house.

“However, Mothupi arrived a while later at his residential place which is three houses away from his mother’s residence and told his girlfriend that Monare stabbed him on his upper body.

An ambulance was called but the victim died before he could be transported to the nearby hospital. Police were also summoned and the suspect was arrested and charged with murder,” Mamothame said.

Monare will remain in police custody until the next court appearance.
