The Kuhlula song received a wide diffusion in various radio stations five days after its release.
Arranged with dancing rhythm, the piece is a collab between DJ Jepper and the singer Divine Gold.
“The song is doing greater than I had anticipated. It was released on the 11th and the day after it was released, we had over 200 tiktok videos of people who participated in #Kuhlulachallenge.
“And we got great feedback from people who listened to the song,” said Jabulani Mabasa, who is affectionately known as DJ Jepper.
According to Jepper, Kuhlula, which means victory, transmits a message of hope and encouragement.
“Whatever challenge you face, stand your ground and keep your confession, that you are victorious through the blood that Jesus shared for you,” he says.
The multi-instrumentalist says that working with Divine Gold has had a positive impact.
“It’s such a great collaboration. She’s a lover of house beats and she has an understanding of house music “gospel house” to be specific and I love producing house music.”
Jepper, born in Gandlanani in Malamulele, has played bass guitar , keyboard and sung in various concerts. He was born into a musical family.
His younger siblings, Walter and Nhlamulo (DYM), are also musicians; singer and bass player respectively.
On the other hand, Divine Gold is a sought-after muso who has won the hearts of music lovers with her high octave voice.
The anointed female vocalist, also known as Nsuku Polite Makhubele of Ntlhaveni block C (ka Makhubele) in Malamulele had a passion for music since her early days of Sunday school aged 4.
She has been in the church choir since then and has had the opportunity to be both a music leader and a backup singer at different church events and conferences.
She also joined gospel bands until she recorded her debut title “You are the healer” in 2016.
DJ Jepper says he’s worked with her on some of her projects.
“So this wasn’t the 1st time we worked together. However, let me quote her words: ‘It’s an honor to work with such a talented and disciplined musician like DJ Jepper’.”
The duo also worked together in 2019 on the second single of Divine Gold called ‘Wa switiva Yehova’.
Jepper says the word of God “assures us that we are more than conquerors”.
“Have faith and keep on growing your faith by meditating on the word of God and remember what the Bible says in Revelations 12:11 (Kjv) ‘And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony’.
“Testify of the great works that God has done in your life, it seals your victory,” he concludes.
