Philanthropist Thomo Nkgadima came to the aid of a woman who had her house burned down.
Angry community members torched the property of Martha Nangoma (64) whose son, Levy (28), raped and killed a 6-year-old girl.
Since the incident, Marta lives in fear after her son was arrested for killing Boithakgatso Komane from Praktiseer outside Burgersfort in Limpopo.
Nkgadima bought food packages and other valuables for the woman in distress on December 16.
Martha couldn’t salvage her valuables when they were engulfed in the flames.
She now feels rejected and downcast because no support she gets from government officials . She is now hiding for fear of second victimization.
Tubatse Fetakgomo, Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality and Social Development MEC visited the Komane family solely to send messages of condolence and support.
The mayor praised the police for the rapist’s quick arrest. However, no one was arrested for arson and police investigation continues.
“No one was arrested for arson, and the social workers did not visit the Nangoma family to provide psychological and social counselling. They only visited the Komane family,” Nkgadima said.
Nkgadima said in the real spirit of Ubuntu and humanity, in Martha he found a mother.
“Out of compassion I feel a deep feeling of sympathy and sorrow for the suffering of others.
“I urge angry residents to calm down and not take the law into their own hands, but allow the wheels of justice to turn.”
