Lebogang Mafa, a resident at Ext. 7 in Soshanguve, was shot dead by an unknown person at her home around 9pm. A stranger is believed to have entered the house and shot her while she was sitting in the dining room.

An ongoing dispute over a family RDP house is believed to be the cause of her death.

The EFF Tshwane regional Chairperson, Obakeng Ramabodu, said they are deeply grieved by the heinous murder of their fighter.

He said Lebogang was not just a member but a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope for many within ward 90.

“Her unwavering commitment to the EFF and her active
role as a Defender of the Revolution (DOR) demonstrated her dedication to creating a society where justice and equality prevail.

“The loss of such a dedicated member is a tremendous blow to the EFF and to the community at large. Lebogang’s life was brutally cut short when she was shot and killed at her home in front of her son by an unknown assailant in Soshanguve.

“This horrific act of violence
has not only robbed us of a dedicated fighter but has also left a family shattered and a community in mourning. The trauma inflicted on her young son, who witnessed the
senseless murder of his mother, is immeasurable and speaks to the barbarity of the act.

“Lebogang was a steadfast fighter who defended the revolution with unrelenting courage. Her life was a testament to her deep-seated belief in the principles of the EFF. She tirelessly worked to uplift her community and to fight against the systemic
injustices that plague our society. Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew her and by those who benefited from her relentless activism.

The tragic circumstances surrounding Lebogang’s death underscore the grim reality that Soshanguve has become a hotbed of crime.

“Our communities are besieged by violence, and the sense of safety that every citizen deserves is continually eroded. The streets of Soshanguve, once vibrant with life and community spirit, have become synonymous with fear and insecurity.

“The prevalence of crime in the area is a dire reflection of the broader societal issues we face,” said Ramabodu in the statement.
