Eleven thugs caught stealing aluminium from the Eskom power line that distribute electricity

Eleven suspects, aged between 17 and 27 were arrested during a multidisciplinary approach operation conducted by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation Middelburg, DPCI CATS Section Head Office, Witbank VISPOL and Afri- Guard Security on Tuesday, 08 March 2022 around Vosman – Witbank.

 

On Tuesday 08 March 2022, the Afri’-Guard Security found suspects stealing aluminium from the Eskom power line that distribute electricity.

 

According to Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, the suspects took advantage during the time Eskom was busy servicing the lines and switched off the transmission to prevent injuries to the passer-by.

“The Hawks from National office and Provincial were summoned to the crime scene together with other stakeholders. During the search aluminium was found loaded inside three trucks valued to R2.1million.

 

“The suspects were arrested, charged and detained pending their first court appearance in the Emalahleni Magistrate court on Wednesday, 09 March 2022, Investigation continues,” Sekgotodi.
