A well-known traditional healer and social figure, Azwidowi Gadisi, appeared before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning to face a charge of murder.
Gadisi, accused of brutally beating his wife to death on Saturday night, handed himself over to the police the following morning.
Reports suggest that Gadisi had subjected his 32-year-old wife to years of physical abuse, but fear of his supposed magical powers kept neighbors silent.
Sources revealed that the victim had previously fled to her parents’ home in the Damani section of Khubvi, seeking refuge from the relentless abuse.
However, she recently returned to Gadisi after he allegedly pleaded with her to come back, a decision that would ultimately lead to her tragic death.
Gadisi case was postponed to tge 7th of August 2024 for further investigations.
