Since her first-born son, Oupa Mabasa (39) disappeared on April 18, 2022, Girly Chauke’s life has been devastating.
Despite many doubts from some residents, Chauke (58) still awaits and greatly hopes that her son will return home alive.
Oupa, who lived at 8-14th Avenue, has four children with Zimkhitha Matoti (23).
In the exclusive interview with Mashamba Media , Chauke, the mother of three children said Oupa was requested by the neighbors to drive them to a party in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni.
She said that Oupa, a local taxi driver, was driving the neighbor’s car that was transporting the owner, his wife, two boys, and a certain woman.
But everybody returned alive, except for her son. She said that when she asked for answers, she heard different stories from the neighbors and the woman.
Chauke said that when she went to open up a case with Alex police, they advised her to register a missing person.
She says her neighbor told her they don’t know what happened to Oupa since they were all drunk.
“They said he was involved in a fight with some strangers in Daveyton and that they left him when he was nowhere to be found.
“But a 13-year-old son of nneighbors told me that when they returned, Oupa was with them in the car.
“The boy said he got out of the car on the freeway when the car still.”
Chauke said the woman who was with them told her Oupa fought them on their way back.
“I organised a meeting with the two neighbors and they had in agreed.
“But when I walked into their home, the man’s wife said she had nothing to explain to me because she owed me no explanation.
“That day, I was extremely devastated with endless questions about what they did to my son.
“They’re hiding something, they know something, because their child and the woman said Oupa was in the car when they returned.”
Unemployed Chauke, from of Ntlhaveni Bloc C in Malamulele, now lives in Ext.7 with Oupa’s children and his wife.
On May 26, she travelled to health facilities in Benoni and Daveyton in search of Oupa, with no success.
Now she wants the police to interrogate her neighbors because she believes they know a lot about her missing son.
“I want to know where my child is or what happened to him,”she said.
