Four thugs first asked for a lift from a motorist before they shot him dead

A manhunt has been launched for four unknown African males following a fatal shooting incident in Muvhenzhe village, Vuwani policing precinct, Vhembe District on Friday night, 13 September 2024, at approximately 20:00.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased and his friend were driving along Tshimbupfe gravel road after leaving a liquor outlet when they encountered four African males seeking a lift but did not stop.

Shortly thereafter, the deceased stopped the vehicle to relieve himself, and suddenly, gunshots were fired. He ran back to the vehicle, which was then targeted with multiple shots.

The driver sped off but lost control and collided with a palisade at a nearby filling station, where it was discovered that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The police and emergency medical services attended the scene, and the victim was certified dead.

A case of murder has been opened, and the motive behind the incident is still unknown.

“The police appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Mikateko Chabalala on 071 533 3994, Crime Stop 08600 10111, or the nearest Police Station or use MySAPSApp,” Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba.
