Giyani View Editor-in-chief celebrates 10 years experience in Media

Giyani View editor-in-chief and publisher, Blessing Mabunda (31) will celebrate his 10 years of experience as a print and broadcast journalist in May 2021.

Mabunda began his career as a journalist in the Greater Alex Today newspaper in May 2012.

In June 2012, he joined Alex FM 89.1 and worked as a radio reporter and DJ for Makondlo Mambirhi (Xitsonga cultural show).

He was known to his fans as Da- bles piano da- kiss. Blessing moved to Phalaborwa FM in 2014 November, and took over a drive show (Taxi jam) Monday to Friday and r&b and hip hop show on Sunday evenings.

His career as a broadcaster at Phalaborwa FM became exciting after he commentated a live match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the MTN 8 final, 2014.

He did news shows (current affairs) and a children’s program.

In October 2015, he joined Energy FM in Polokwane as a newsreader for Xitsonga bulletins, and he was a freelance journalist for Limpopolian newspaper in Polokwane.

In 2016 November he moved back to Johannesburg, and he served as a Digital ambassador employed by the City of Joburg and University of Johannesburg (UJ).

After his tenure as a Digital ambassador in 2017 March Mabunda started his own company, Kuvoninga Media Pty Ltd.

Kuvoninga Media’s subsidiary companies are Giyani View, Malamulele View, Phalaborwa View, Tzaneen View and Kuvoninga Technologies.

Blessing Mabunda was born in Bambeni village, Ka- Dzumeri outside Giyani.

Mabunda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science from UNISA, National Certificate in Journalism, Diploma in Media Studies and FET certificate in Advertising (MICT) from Jeppe College, and Micro Enterprise Certificate from the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
