Now he details the gruesome experience that nearly shortened his life

Patrons jostled for cover as gunshots dominated the venue. Few seconds later, Gundo Mulaudzi ( 25) , was soaked in his own blood; he was shot!
Mulaudzi still has the fresh yet ugly memories that occurred on the evening of the 20th of December 2020, at an event hosted by Potjie Sunday in Alex.
Mulaudzi says it started as a cheerful event before it turned into a horrific tragedy for him.
“The gunshots injuries have had a permanent impact on my physical health.
“The burden of the injuries disconnected me from the channel. Every planned activity came to a complete halt and my financial goals were disrupted.”
The GomoraTV Founder was allegedly attempting to defuse a fight between one of his friends and the offender when the confrontation spiraled into a violent fist-fight.
It is understood that the offender retreated, later returned with a loaded fire arm and gunshots erupted targeting Mulaudzi who subsequently suffered three gunshot trauma wounds to the abdomen.
“An overwhelming sense of panic came over me and moments of shock crept in! Shots rang out and the crowd was already dispersing.
“I was still conscious but the physical powerlessness prevented my movement.”
Mulaudzi explains that the aftermath has been a challenging one.
“Certain details surrounding the occurrence of this predicament are blurred, but what I remember vividly is the sensitive stress and the intense feelings of helplessness consequent to the violence.You cannot seal yourself from the reality of having nearly died.
“There are moments when panic sideswiped me, although I tried to reduce my experience to nothing. It is much easier to disconnect yourself from the issue of ‘Gun violence’ if you don’t know anybody who has been affected, or until it happens to you.”
Mulaudzi believes the event and the tragedy that ensued, revived questions around sensitive security concerns and the management of threats to event venue security.
“I blame the availability of illegal firearms and that the people caught using them are not deterred by the criminal justice system.”
The perpetrator is reportedly roaming the streets not restrained, although it is alleged that he has previously committed other violent gun crimes with impunity.
Mulaudzi says although trauma he suffered recurs, he is not vengeance-driven.
“But I am currently seeking legal advice from my legal representative. The shooting altered my life, however, the support from the GomoraTV family, my physical family, friends, including the local community members was overwhelming and I remain forever indebted to them.

Gun violence has become a grim reality in the Alexandra township, a pandemic that never ends, as the number of gun owners began increasing, so did incidents of gun violence.
The regulation of the gun licensing process in South Africa is still lacking, one of the contributing factors to the scourge that is the proliferated increase of gun violence.
