BLC (distributor of earthmoving equipment), Gift of The Givers and other donors, have distributed food parcels to those in need in Alexandra recently.
These organizations have donated 2500 loaves and 2500 baked beans.
They’re giving 10,000 more loaves on August 4. This measure will help those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent wave of looting in the township.
The donations were facilitated by Peace Ambassador Thabo Mopasi, who coordinated the distributions among the Alexandra community.
During the touching ceremony, which focused mainly on restoring peace, Refilwe Pieterse recited a poem of hope:
“Today, a new story is written, a story about how we faced our fears. A child will get their education; a mother will eat together with her children and a father will protect their community.
“Today is another chapter, Magogo will not go to the grave with her wisdwisdom, but will pass it on.
“Today our future is in our hands.
Today our choices are in our hands.”
The donation from BLC was well and warm received by older persons from Alexandra. The distribution went to Ageing with Wisdom Region E Elderly Forum for Elderly, St Joseph Gerald Old Age Home, Thandanani Meals on Wheels.
