Gauteng MEC for Transport and Logistics Kedibone Diale-Tlabela whas this afternoon, 12 January 2023 visited the scene of the truck crash at Hendrick Potgieter and Peter roads in Ruimsug, Roodepoort.
Preliminary information suggests that a refuse truck allegedly failed brakes and plunged into people at an informal taxi rank near Featherbrooke Village.
Five people sadly lost their lives while several others were injured and transported to various hospitals.
“Our deepest condolences to the families and friends who lost their loves ones in this crash and we would also like to wish the injured people a speedy recovery, ” said Kedibone Diale-Tlabela.
