LeanoAgri Co-op wins best substance producers 2023

“We are over the moon and truly humbled and thankful to have won this award. We won best substance producers 2023,” says Nomsa Ncube, Chairperson of LeanoAgri Co-op.

The event was held recently in Eikenhof Eco Park.

“We definitely see ourselves owning a bigger farm and expanding into animal farming and also having more youth following in our footsteps,” she says.

LeanoAgri Co-op, which deals with mixed cropping and herb farming, also has a foundation where “we teach the youth and elderly on farming practices”.

The organisation is made up of six full-time active members, all born and raised in Alexandra. They are Nomsa Ncube, Phumudzo Mugheri, Tebogo Molopa, Nonhle Manzini, Wilson Mothiba and Sibusiso Thonjeni.

Their company, now headquartered in Marlboro, was founded in 2020. “We have a rooftop garden in the Johannesburg CBD and expanding to Springs.

“Challenges that we are currently facing are lack of funds for inputs and manpower expansion.”

The team collectively has the message for someone who wants to venture into business: “Stay patient, don’t rush the process, be consistent, stay active and always follow your dreams, no matter what anyone says.

“Find yourself a mentor and always remember knowledge is power. Hard work pays off and move in silence.
