In an impressive display of tradition and community spirit, the police in Giyani proudly oversaw the grand celebrations of over two thousand boys who successfully graduated from initiation schools in Ngove and Maswanganyi villages.
The festivities took place over the weekend, from Saturday, 06 July 2024, to Sunday, 07 July 2024.
On Saturday, 06 July 2024, a remarkable two thousand and seven (2007) boys celebrated their rite of passage, marking the end of their journey at the Ngove initiation school, which concluded with the closing of the winter school session.
The celebrations were filled with joy and pride as Hosi Penny Ngove welcomed the graduates at the royal palace, offering inspiring words before the boys were joyously received by their parents.
Continuing the celebrations, Sunday, 07 July 2024, saw two hundred and eight (208) boys graduate from the Dzingi Dzingi initiation school. Hosi Maswanganyi addressed the graduates at his royal palace, commending their resilience and dedication.
Remarkably, the entire celebration period was marked by peace and safety, with no incidents of death or harm reported from either initiation school.
The atmosphere in the villages of Ngove and Maswanganyi was electric, with ululations and traditional dancing echoing through the communities. The joy and pride shared among the villagers underscored the cultural significance and success of the initiation schools.
The Giyani police commend the organizers and the community for their exemplary conduct and commitment to upholding traditions while ensuring safety.
