A disruptive operation by members of the Provincial Organized Crime Unit yielded the desired results on Tuesday 12 September 2023 when a 38-year-old Nigerian suspect was arrested in Polokwane CBD.
The suspect was spotted driving his motor vehicle, a Toyota Starlet hatchback with a Limpopo registration number, on his way out of the complex for delivery.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, he was stopped and searched, and crystal meth drugs with an estimated street value of R30,000 were found hidden underneath the driver’s seat.
Ledwaba said the suspect was then arrested, and the drugs as well as the motor vehicle valued at R80,000 were seized.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the team for showing relentless effort in their work in ridding this Province of drugs.
“The suspect will appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 September 2023 on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
“Police investigations are still continuing,” said Ledwaba.
