The very first Mother’s Day was commemorated in the USA in 1908, when a local woman organized a day to honor her mother.
Six years later, the US Congress voted to officially recognize the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. A century later, it is a day commemorated around the world.
It is true that this day plays an important role and should be used as an occasion to honor the many women who played a role of mother in our lives.
Almost all women want to feel loved, protected, respected and satisfied in whatever way.
A woman or a mother who does not see the utility of a man in her life, will always regard him as a waste, an abuser, a monster or a killer.
During this day, men should think about their weaknesses, eliminate unhealthy habits, which contribute to them being called trash and become role models!
Most men of Africa’s cultures have been exposed to myths that a man does not cry!
Because they are trained not to cry, it is even hard for them to share their problems or challenges amongst themselves for fear of the unknown!
Most men bottle up issues and when those issues have reached the edge, they just explode, followed by fatalities, injuries or broken families!
Because of the accumulated problems, the next catastrophe is imminent: they become rapists, mistreat their wives and children, kill or commit suicide.
According to a World Health Organization survey, 60,000 women and children are victims of domestic violence in South Africa.
Of the women who had a violent relationship, 45.9 per cent reported being injured.
According to the Africacheck.org fact sheet, published on August 4, 2020, the police recorded 42,289 rapes in 2019-2020, up from 41,583 in 2018-2019.
This means the police recorded an average of 116 rapes each day.
Arguments and misunderstandings were the primary causes of murder when a motive could be identified.
The report states that spousal violence is the second common cause of murder.
In 2019-20, 2,695 females were killed in South Africa, compared to 2,771 in 2018-19.
That means a woman gets killed every 3 hours. According to this report, 943 children were killed.
These figures are not good at all! It’s high time men changed. Men should be obsessed with protecting their mothers, women, sisters, wives and children.
Young girls must feel free to wear short skirts and walk on the streets without fear of being harassed by men.
During her speech at the Crime Summit Day in Sankopano on November 24, 2018, former MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, said men were trash.
Malobane strongly cautioned potential rapists to think twice before committing the offense.
She literally gave the community the power to deal with the rapist, should he be found, before the police were called.
“And the police must delay three hours before attending to that mob justice. You have to beat the hell out of him and turn him over to the police when you’re satisfied.
“I hate rape to the core. As such, I started the Center for Abused Women in Alex (located in the Far East).
“A child who was raped at seven, a woman who was raped at twenty, and a girl who was raped at fourteen, the effects are the same. The person dies inside.
“Some of you (male) are married to women who have suffered permanent harm. She didn’t tell you she was molested when she was little. And that leads to shattered families.”
Malobane said that some of the rapists were dads who were never caught.
“We cannot have men who commit rape or murder without being arrested. It’s important to respect women. Men, I’m gonna insult you until you stop that rape. I will always call you trash,” she boldly said.
