Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects after an off duty police officer was shot and killed in Mabopane on Monday, 10 March 2025, at approximately 13h00.
It is reported that a 50-year-old Sergeant who is attached to Gauteng Highway Patrol Unit was driving in a red Polo when he was shot at by suspects who were driving in a sedan.
The police officer lost control, and his car collided with a Toyota Venture and came to a halt. The paramedics responded and certified the member dead at the scene.
Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111. Information can also be given anonymously via MySAPS App.
