One person has been killed and two others injured in a serious taxi accident on Umbilo Road in Umbilo just before on Saturday morning.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage.
It is alleged that a mini bus taxi was being chased by SAPS and Security Officials after committing a crime when it collided at high speed into a truck.
A female passenger in the taxi was found to have sustained major injuries, and there was nothing more Paramedics could do for her, and she was declared deceased on the scene.
According to the information at our disposal, the driver of the taxi was found severely entrapped in the wreckage with critical injuries.
“He was stabilized on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics while the Ethekwini Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to try and free the man.
“Once freed, the driver was rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required,” said our mole.
The deep throat said the truck driver sustained moderate injuries and was stabilized on the scene by ALS Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for further care.
“At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” said a source close situation.
