The Alex Future Stars Football Club began their regional league campaign with a positive note, defeating their opponents, Killarney Santos FC, 3 – 2.

This was their first league victory since being registered and granted an opportunity to participate in the North Rand Football Association, which is monitored by the SAFA local region.

After many attempts by coach Kgosi Noge to obtain registration with various local associations, finally it paid off. Their inaugural win in the league was against Killarney Santos, which they beat in Norwood Primary School sports ground in Johannesburg under the coaching of Given Motanyane.

Although Kgosi has praised his boys, he also acknowledged that there are still more things to do to improve the team.

“We need to up our game more, being clinical about ball controlling and trying to subdue opponent’s territory,” comments Kgosi Noge.

“However, I’m glad the boys managed to win the game showing tenacity and hard work, he added.

He also indicated that their focus was on winning the league, followed by achieving good results.

Meanwhile, as the game unfolded, there was an altercation between Alex Future Stars FC and the referee that led to its goalkeeper being cautioned, especially after back talking to the man in charge.

Alex Future Stars were 2-1 up before half time, however, their sloppiness forced Santos to come back and level the score.

Future Stars came out on top with a final score of 3-2.
