The Klerksdorp Magistrates Court has denied bail to a 38-year-old man charged with raping his 12-year-old daughter.
The man who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim is charged for allegedly raping his daughter at his residential home in Jourberton near Klerksdorp.
The matter was postponed to 23 August 2021 for further investigations.
According to Henry Mamothame
NPA Spokesperson (NW Division), the first rape incident allegedly took place on 31 May 2021 when the accused allegedly ordered the child to undress before he started performing sexual acts on her.
He allegedly raped her again the following day.
“The accused was confirmed to be a parolee who was convicted for a similar offence in the year 2008. He was then released on parole in 2016 and is set to expire on 23 December 2023.
“The child allegedly reported the
rape incident to her grandmother from her maternal side of the family and later reported to the police,” said Mamothame
Mamothame said the child was allegedly staying with the accused following her mother’s death.
“Prior to the mother’s death, the accused stayed with the mother and the child at her parent’s home, where upon her passing he was forced to move back to his home. He then took the child to stay with him.”
The accused will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
