Polo driver hijacked
The victim claimed he was driving his white VW Polo (registration number ZXW 457 GP) when he stopped at Lenin and London Road.
All of a sudden, he was approached by four unidentified African men with firearms.
They said they didn’t need his car. The incident occurred on the 21st of April around 18:00.
They all jumped in, pushed him onto the passenger seat and escorted him to an unknown address.
On arrival, he was instructed to give them his bank app password and they transferred money to different accounts.
They also stole his two cellular phones, an iPhone and Samsung galaxy. After the ordeal, he was set free.
Pep Store burgled in Alex Plaza.
A 36-year-old woman alleged that she was at work at the Pep Cell store in Alex Plaza busy assisting customers, when four African men entered the store.
The incident occurred on April 17 at approximately 11:00 a.m.
According to the spokesperson for Alex police, Sergeant Mbatha, the thugs have also joined the queue.
One of the hooligans apparently started complaining about the service.
They took guns, threatened customers and ordered the victim to open the cash till where R12 965.40 was stolen.
One of the suspects opened a burglar door in the back of the store with a crowbar and instructed another employee to open a safe where cell phones were taken.
Total value of cellular phones is 250,000.00. After that, they left the store by two cars, a silver Toyota Corolla and an Etios. They didn’t fire a single shot.
House robbery and attempted murder
A total of seven rented rooms were broken into and tenants robbed of cell phones and TV sets.
More than six unknown Africans, some armed with guns, entered the rooms.
The complainant alleged that he was sleeping at 197-steven Ngcobo street, East bank, Alexandra when he heard a sound at the entrance.
The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on April 16.
A 31-year-old victim glanced out the window and saw more than minus six unknown African men carrying firearms and hid under his bed.
He heard them breaking into an adjacent rented room and shooting.
After the thugs came to his bedroom, broke the door and took his television and wallet with cards. After some time he came out and noticed that his neighbor had been shot in the right thigh.
The victim was rushed to hospital by an ambulance for medical attention.
A total of seven leased rooms were robbed and tenants were stripped of mobile phones and televisions.
Alexandra resident hijacked of his car at 8 Roosevelt
A victim alleged that he was behind the wheel of his white Toyota Avanza (registration number FL 89 KF GP at the PAN Africa shopping center.
The incident occurred on 16 April at approximately 18h30.
He had stopped at 8th Avenue and Roosevelt for a female passenger to board the taxi when three African males appeared armed with firearms.
They shoved him in the passenger seat and left with him for Johannesburg.
They gave him twenty bucks to take a cab for Alexandra.
The victim, according to Mbatha, can identify the suspects.
The value of the vehicle is R 95000.00. No injuries sustained during the hijacking.
Car hijacked in extension 7
A 34-year-old male claimed he was driving his yellow Peugeot (registration number DV 69 LV GP) when it was hijacked.
He said he stopped at a red robot at the corner of Lenin and Laduma Street, Alexandra when a blue Toyota Avanza with four unknown suspects blocked him ahead.
The incident took place at 6am on April 17th.
Two thugs, one armed with a firearm, and another with a knife alighted.
He promptly jumped out of the car and both suspects entered and departed.
The car had no insurance and its value was 30K . injuries were reported.
