“Mayweather claims to be a champion. I want to take him on. I am a real champ. I can beat him in round 2 TKO. I am challenging him. I am challenging him. I can travel to the United State of America (USA) or he can come to South Africa,” says Thabo Mahlare (42), a gifted muso.

DJ Behind Bars’ recent videos shows a grave dug for the renowned boxing champ, Floyd Mayweather. The video caused traffic on social media. By the look of things, the determined muso and businessman challenges the boxer in what looks like “peaceful beef”.

The name of the song is’ I’m gonna beat Mayweather’. “I want to fight against Floyd Mayweather inside a boxing ring.

“He won 50 fights with no loss. But that is because he never fought against me. I am the best and better than him. To me he is just like a kid. I am not afraid of him.

“He is just a very small boy. Any boxing ring for me will work… whether in the USA or here in South Africa,” says the muso who has just trained and considers himself the best.

“I have taken down many even on the streets,” DJ Behind Bars confidently says.

Thabo hasn’t dropped his musical spirit. His album titled Behind Bars vol3 received massive airplay.

In the album he shot a music video featuring South Africa Popular Hip-Hop singer Thulani Ngcobo know as Pitch Black Afro and Jordan Duncan, known as Da-real Synco of London, Britain. The music video was recorded at Nellmapius in Mamelodi.

This busy man performs all over the universe. Most vehicles use the Behind Bar’s name sticker to promote local talent.

He is also a businessman who is the mastermind of his own brand ‘Behind Bars Clothing’ established in 2012.

From humble beginnings Thabo, from Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, began selling garments from door to door a few years ago. Now his clothes are sold in Chicago in the United States of America (USA).

“This is an indication that my business is booming. This is a major breakthrough in the fashion industry,”he stated.

His designer clothes are found in well known retail shops around Pretoria such as Sasmmy Marks Aquare and The Tramshed.

Meanwhile, in Soweto, they are found in Maponya Mall. His brand is loved by a lot of prominent people such as, Kenny Kunene, Oskido, Mahoota, Vetkook and Thabo Sefologa who plays for the Chicago Bulls in the United States.

In remembrance of the lost heroes who were part of the dark days of oppression, Thabo says he came up with the idea of calling his label behind bars.

“The idea came when I realised that many of the former freedom fighters who ended up in prison have now been forgotten. They are our heroes. This is a way to show respect and salute them.”

The DJ’s music became very famous when he released a first album called Behind bars Vol 1 in 2012 with ten songs.

Through his tracks, he preaches peace and democracy to the people so that they can live in the present, walk in the future and forget the past.

He keeps young people away from the streets through skills development training called DJ’s Paradise. It’s a platform where young people learn to be good DJs.

His music has been enjoying air play on SABC ‘s radio stations and TV. Some of the songs on the album included Unity, Africa rise, Soldiers of Struggle, Praise to Nelson Mandela, Drugs and HIV/AIDS, World against crime as well as Days after day.

He has thousands of followers in Mozambique as well.

He stated that working with Hip-Hop artist Thulani Ngcobo was a climax of his musical career rather a dream come true. “I have always admired him,” he said.

Thabo is a multi-talented man: poet, musician and comedian. He turned his skill and hobby into a career that now puts food on the table.

He calls himself King sushi Africa with an African flavour. He has a taste of vegetables on a half naked woman.

“I am going back to the roots, appreciating the beauty of a typical African woman with big ass, breast and curves. It is mouth watering and tanderlising when I touch a woman’s warm flesh body with my tongue,” he concludes.

He’s never the enemy of books. He studied Public Management with Pretoria Technikon/ Tshwane University of Technology in 1998. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) certified by CETA in 2005.

His message to the young is to be courageous and to take education seriously.
