Edward Motale was born in 1966-07-29.
1. Which teams did you play for?
“I played for Jomo Cosmos, Dynamos and Orlando Pirates.
“At Cosmos, I played with the late Phil Masinga, the late Sizwe Motaung, Hellman Mkhelele, Innocent Mqwango, Pitso Mosimane, the late Thomas Madigage and others.
“I later moved to Dynamos where I found great players like John” Dunga” Moeti, Marks”Go man Go” Maponyane, Eric September, amongst others.
“I then joined Orlando Pirates where I played with many different players; I had a better part of my career there. Just to count a couple of players, I played with William Okpara, Jerry Skosana, Mark Fish, Phiri Tsotetse, Gavin Lane and a lot more.
2. Where do you stay in the moment?
“I stay in Mamelodi.”
3.Do you consume alcoholic beverages?
“Yes, I do occasionally.”
4.Do you attend church?
“No, I’m not a church person.”
Motale is a Mamelodi-born player who began football at school until he later played professional football for Cosmos, Dynamos and later Orlando Pirates.
He also played for the Bafana-Bafana National Team with seven caps to his name.
He played on the national team, which won the Africa Cup of the Nation in 1996. After hanging up his boots, Edward decided to register a life skills course that included HIV and AIDS.
In 2004, he joined the Football for Life campaign and was a facilitator for schools and prisons.
He then joined Sonke Gender Justice in 2011 as a facilitator, the organization with which he remains involved.
