Sbongile Mbatha has been nominated for the Woman of Stature Awards South Africa category (Women in Media & Journalism), the award she hopes to receive. “ I am excited for this nomination and looking forward in all the growth that it will bring in my Professional and personal space. It’s such a humbling moment as you get to realize that you are really making an impact,” she said.
Sbongile joined the media industry in 2020 when Covid-19 started. She said she wanted to impact more lives because the media has played a huge role in 2020. “I joined GNF (God Never Fails) TV in 2020 and it has shaped my character. I have learnt a lot and I will forever be grateful for such a platform,” said Sbongile.
Her show has hosted prominent figures like Rev. SC Mathebula, Bishop TE Twala, Apostle John Ngcebetsha, Dr. Criselda Kanada, and former Johannesburg City Council Speaker Colleen Makhubela.
Born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, Mbatha comes from a loving family with both parents and five siblings.
From a young age, she demonstrated strong leadership qualities and was a top achiever in school. After finishing matric with outstanding grades, she received a scholarship from Eskom to pursue her studies.
She went on to earn a Bachelor of Accounting from Wits University and Honours Degree at University of South Africa. With over 10 years corporate experience, Sbongile has worked for prestigious companies and has gained invaluable financial and leadership skills.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sbongile founded Esther Talk Show, broadcast on GNF TV, and established Esther the Light Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to empower women from all walks of life.
Through the show, she invites women to share their experiences, wisdom, and knowledge to inspire and impact others. Her vision for the organization is to be a powerful vessel that contributes positively to the world by teaching, informing, and touching people’s lives. Sbongile is a goal-driven individual passionate about seeing women take up space and exercise their power.
She believes that by working together with unity, significant progress can be made. Guided by her values of integrity, ethics, and humility, she strives to uplift others as she rises.
“Believe in your dreams because they are valid. Never doubt what is inside of you. Be fearless and courageous and trust in God with all your heart,” she concluded.
