The Mavambe petrol station, now known as the Global Garage, in the village of Mavambe, Malamulele, has been robbed by ten men, all heavily armed.
It is alleged that on December 2 at approximately 2:00 a.m., the security guard (name withheld) was on duty when the thugs came out of nowhere and ordered him to lie down.
According to the spokesperson for the Malamulele police station, Sergeant Busisiwe Khuzwayo, the thugs then bombarded the Capitec safe that was inside the building.
They then proceeded and bombarded Nedbank ATM, located outside the building. Undisclosed amount was taken.
It is further alleged that nearly all the suspects were armed with a firearm.
“The suspects are unknown at this moment. All relevant stakeholders were summoned to the crime scene.
“There were no injuries in the incident. An investigation is underway,” she said.
